On behalf of the scientific commitee and the organising commitee we wish you warmly welcome to the XXIV ESRS Congress in Chaina.
With globalisation has come an increase in disparity among individuals, groups, territories, and states. Depending on specific contexts, diversity can be a source of discrimination - and therefore of inequality – or of empowerment. Rural areas are strongly affected by these trends.
The ESRS Congress will address this issue by looking at the following themes :
- Growing inequalities at the global scale: what is the role of food, natural resources, rural areas
- The multidimensionality of inequality and the importance of diversity: what implications for rural sociology
- Diversity in space and rural areas
- Diversity and inequality – Implications for the governance of European States and Institutions
